    CONTEMPORARY INSPIRATION

A DEFINING BALANCE OF VINTAGE AND MODERNISM

As a writer, a designer, and a teacher, George Nelson's entire life was devoted to creating beautiful and interesting things and the Kite Clock is product of his imaginative and genius mind. Originally designed in 1960s, the diversity of materials used and their sculptural shapes they embody the 'joie de vivre' of the 1950s. It was designed with only 10 raised hour markers. Using color it represents both the dark and light sides of the industrial modern movement. The missing 6 and 12 hour positions are defined by the meeting in the middle of the light and dark. To this day, his wall clocks remain a refreshing alternative to the usual time-keepers.

    BEAUTIFUL AND INTERESTING DESIGN

Change the way you look at the clock with the style of the Kite Clock by Designer Editions. The Metal face shaped as kite reflects a perfect balance nearly like Ying yang, an architecturally correct metal body painted in black and white while Block style hour & minute hands black painted steel fabricated to original proportion; Red seconds hand features the vintage pop triangle head of the original design. Backed with a 24-month manufacturer’s warranty, the consistent and accurate Quartz Movement Mechanism will not let you down.

    George Nelson

George Nelson, born 1908 in Hartford, Connecticut was an American industrial designer and one of the founders of American Modernism. He did not originally set out to become an architect but fate lead him to the path when one rainy day he happened upon the architecture school at Yale, when he ducked into a building and as he walks his way through the building, he immediately found where he belonged. Entering the profession in the depths of the Great Depression, Nelson competed for and was awarded a Rome Prize, which provided a two-year stipend to study at the American Academy in Rome. George Nelson shaped the course of design in America for over four decades. Many of his designs were known worldwide including the Coconut Chair, Marshmallow Sofa, and Ball Clock to name a few.
