Charles Eames, a US-born architect and furniture designer known today for his furniture design rather than his residential projects, was one of a few designers in the 1930-the 1940s who was highly influenced by Finnish and Danish designers of the time. Later on, designing with Eero Saarinen he designed the Trophy for the 'Organic Design" awards (New York). Always fascinated with bent plywood for its malleability as individual layers, and ease of molding then rigid once formed and dry, leading to Eames designing many practical/functional pieces of furniture for the US Navy during the 2nd World War.
